Dr. Elizabeth “Like” Lokon

As an artist, gerontologist, and educator, I use the arts to build intergenerational friendships. In 2007, I founded the Opening Minds through Art (OMA), an intergenerational art program for people living with dementia based at Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University in Ohio. OMA has been widely replicated in North America. I teach, present and publish on the intersection of the arts, dementia, and service learning. In the last 35 years, I have made over 150 presentations in North America, Europe and Asia. I am also a fiber artist.
